Bakerdays Letterbox Cake Review

30-Jan-2018 by Lisa Bradburn

The months of January and February are always a tricky time to know what to buy the kids especially for those who have birthdays at this time of year. When the house is filled with toys and you’ve used up all your brilliant ideas at Christmas, it leaves me thinking about what present can I give someone who has a birthday in January or February? I always spend the first two months of every year therefore, looking for unusual gifts and present ideas.

So I was delighted to discover my first find of 2018 courtesy of an amazing company called Bakerdays. Bakerdays is a UK company based at the edge of Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire. The business was founded by Andrea Guzyova and greeting card entrepreneur Alan Hawkes, whose passion for cakes (mainly eating them) is only exceeded by a knack of creating the perfect cake design for every occasion. AND If they haven’t the cake design you’re looking for, you just have to let them know and they will design one especially for you. INCREDIBLE!

Bakerdays sent me one of their fabulous Valentine’s Letterbox Cakes to review and I loved it! I simply went onto their website and browsed their collection of Valentine’s Day designs. With over 100 styles to choose from I was of course spoilt for choice. I spent lots of time browsing through all of their designs and finally chose the “ I’m nuts about you” one. I think this print is so cool and such a quirky design! You can tell that Bakerdays spend lots of time designing their cakes because the designs are incredible and ones you can’t find anywhere else! Also I love that their range accommodates kids, with Valentine’s cakes just for them. I always give my kids a little something on Valentine’s day to show them just how much I love them!

So once I’d chosen my design, I selected the size of the cake ( you can choose from letterbox size £14.95, small party cake £27.99, medium party cake £37.99 and large party cake £57.99 ) which was very easy to do. I also chose the type of sponge – I decided to go for traditional sponge but my options were: rich chocolate  chip, half & half, gluten free, lemon drizzle, red velvet, dairy free and fruit!

After ordering my cake it took a couple of days to arrive in the post! Super speedy! When the parcel arrived I was extremely keen to open it and take a peak inside. I opened up the package and inside was a whole host of promotional material from Bakerdays. There was a little card inside which said “just for you” which was a lovely added touch! I opened the tin and inside I could see the amazing cake I’d ordered! As soon as I took the lid off the tin the beautiful smell of cake hit me! I cut just a small slice and tasted it and of course it was delicious! The sponge was super light and fluffy – just perfect! I quickly put the lid back on and popped the tin on the kitchen side so I wasn’t tempted to try anymore. I saved the rest for when the kids got home so they could all have a piece which I knew they’d adore.  Also there was a pack of balloons, candles and party poppers – making the gift all the more special!

I'm Nuts About You Cake

What I love about this company is that they have a fantastic range of cake designs available. So if you’re looking for a fun novel gift for Valentine’s Day, Mothers Day, a 21st birthday, Easter or even a good luck gift make sure you take a look at the amazing collection of cakes over at Bakerdays.
