How can we be talking about ‘Back To School’ when the children haven’t even broken up for the summer holidays yet?
Lots of high street shops and online sites are already advertising their back to school ranges. Many of us are feeling the credit crunch and are very aware of how expensive it is to kit out just one child for the new school year, let alone two or more. I also know that lots of us are very reluctant to buy school uniform and school shoes in case of a mad growth spurt by our kids during the summer, but there are definitely ways to spread the cost.
One great way is to buy all the school accessories you can now, such as school lunch boxes, kids’ drinks bottles, pencil cases, stationery and school bags. At What to buy for kids I have already noticed the increasing number of girls’ lunch boxes and boys’ lunch boxes flying out. School pencil cases and kids’ drink bottles have been very popular too.
So I would really recommend not leaving everything till the last minute and buy those school accessories that your kids won’t grow out of now.
My other suggestion is this – if any children are going to birthday parties over the next few weeks, then why not take a girls’ or boys’ lunch box as their birthday present? These make fantastic gifts for kids and are very useful and practical too. I’m sure lots of parents would much prefer a useful birthday present than one that might end up unopened in a cupboard somewhere!
These are just a couple of suggestions to think about, but I know there will be many more. So if anyone has any great money saving tips when it comes to buying all those things kids need for school, then please share these with us.
